In this follow up collection of poetry, I wanted to tackle the concept of time and its effect on us all. The minutes or years between heartache and triumph, between loss and addition, and the tender or cruel space between it all, continues to add up. As I've gotten older, I have wrestled with the notion that we regrettably live for the next thing instead of giving ourselves the courage to breathe in the moment, both the good and the bad. We grow old, our bones ache more and more each day, family members return to the dirt, hearts break and bleed. It is these moments where we need to soak in all this painful glory, and realize that we are humans, and with all the setbacks and bruises you gain along the way, there is a sense of melancholy knowing we all go through this. In these poems you will realize that time can be cruel if you let it infect you. If you let time corrode away the perfectly imperfect parts of you, you will suffer in the pain we all share. We can smile at a funeral, we can cry at a bar with your friend, you can throw fists into the air too. Simply live in the moment and give yourself the time to do so in this crazy world. Enjoy the chaos of life and stand bravely in the face of it all, kid.
